Tokyo Breathless Neon Love is a book about the world of Tokyo Fashion... Although it is not just about Japan and the Far East. The influences and culture that shaped the book go beyond Tokyo and Japan. Ultimately in style... It is very much a classically western novel.

In this section, you will find a mix of stories, memories, impressions and articles... All that don't fit into the Ura Harajuku and Tokyo sections.

From the 90s and 2000s... To Streetwear, Street Style, Sneakers and Techwear... Vintage Technology and Gadgets... New York Influential Design... Classical Design... European Aesthetics... Art, Movies, Literature and well...

Whatever I am inspired to write about, that is related to the book!!

As well as... Skateboarding.

The Reason for The Emphasis on Skateboarding in This Section

Everybody knows of the links between the Hip Hop World and Ura Harajuku, but...
Not so many know how much Skateboarding impacted and influenced Ura Harajuku Style... I met so many designers and stylists who loved skateboarding in Harajuku. In fact, I do not remember one person who would not get excited about the topic.

A lot of what was going on in the 2000s in Tokyo Street Style, felt like a refined continuation of the early 90s in skateboarding.

It is also where I come from...
And many of the stories that happened before Tokyo, come from skateboarding.

For me the spirit of going out on a focused mission into the urban jungle... Hitting unknown streets and back alleys... without any idea where I was going... Was exactly the same spirit of adventure that went into exploring a gigantic neon urban jungle -- The world's biggest city... Tokyo.

Skateboarding is a part of my background, that has never left me and influences the way I approach life.

Skateboarding is about taking risks.
From early on in Japan, I became known for taking risks... That seemed ridiculous, crazy or just not worth putting my life on the line.

I used to think that doing risky things just for the thrill of it, was fun... and that I would always be able to write a book about it someday...

Over time, I have come to realize that risking your life on a whim... Just to write books at some point in the future is... Simply not that smart!!!

So... Even though TOKYO BREATHLESS NEON LOVE is about Japan...
The culture that precedes the book is all basically skateboarding.
